Introducing the browser cache
Without any action on your side, a part of the myskillcamp Web application is stored locally on your computer, in a so-called cache, by your internet browser, whatever it is: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, Microsoft Edge, Firefox... It improves your browsing experience later on, making it faster.
The issue
Whenever we improve our application, in some cases your browser could still use the obsolete, local version from its cache. As a result, you may experience all sorts of unexpected problems: some medias won't show, the user interface is wrongly displayed or acts in a strange way, some buttons don't work properly, and much more.
The solution
Don't worry! You can force your browser to get the very last version of the application, by running yourself a short & easy procedure, which requires only some keyboard dexterity! The objective is to empty the browser cache.
The process depends on which browser you use:
-
Google Chrome
-
Safari
-
Firefox
-
Internet Explorer
-
Microsoft Edge
How to empty the cache of Google Chrome?
-
First open your browser - if it's not already opened with this support page!
-
On Windows, press simultaneously the keys 'CTRL' (or 'Control'), 'Shift' (or a big up arrow; the upper case key), and 'Delete' (or 'Del'): CTRL+Shift+Del
-
On Mac OS X, press simultaneously the keys 'Command' (or 'Cmd', or the ⌘ symbol), 'Shift' (or a big up arrow: the upper case key!), and the backward deletion key (or 'backspace', or this symbol, or 'Delete', or 'Del'): ⌘+Shift+Del
-
A Chrome page or tab will open, allowing to clear some data. Make sure to select "all time" as a time range, it's very important! Choose to clear the cached images and files; it's not necessary to clear the other data. The picture below will give you an overview of the resulting screen. Click the 'Clear data' button.
-
Close and reopen your browser: you're done!
