What is SCORM?
SCORM is an acronym that stands for Sharable Content Object Reference Model.
It is a standard that enables your learning content to be packaged and shared with other SCORM-compatible systems. A SCORM takes the form of a .zip file.
What is xAPI?
xAPI (the Experience API), also called Tin Can API, is another well-known format in the world of digital learning. xAPI content also takes the form of a .zip file. What can it do? It can record, process, store and exchange learning experiences. It’s only natural that this next-generation technology is destined to take over from SCORM.
While other formats can also work, myskillcamp favours the xAPI standard because it’s more recent, more flexible and richer. Unlike SCORM, it focuses, for example, on the multiplicity of training materials and the learner’s experience. Click here if you want to learn more about the features supported by xAPI and not by SCORM.
If you have the option, and in the absence of any other particular constraint, myskillcamp therefore strongly recommends using this format instead of SCORM.
What about myskillcamp?
Myskillcamp complies with both the SCORM standard and the xAPI standard. We therefore support content that complies with these standards and can make it available to users of the platform. However, as mentioned above, xAPI files perform better than SCORM files (which can sometimes cause problems, especially in terms of tracking learning activities).
Importing
Import your SCORM or xAPI files from an external authoring tool such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate.
