Before going further, you must first "Create a course", "Add an activity" before selecting the “Quiz” activity.
You will then be able to choose between 8 types of questions to create your quiz:
-
Fill in gaps
-
Texte answer
-
True or False
-
Multiple choice
-
Re-ordering words
-
Association
-
Category
-
Process
Good to know:
-
Each question may be edited and also cancelled at any time using the “wheel” or “bin” icons which you see below.

-
If you wish to give your learners the opportunity to train without this affecting their overall result, activate the “training mode” directly in the quiz settings.
-
If you wish for your learners to be able to restart the quizzes multiple times, go to the settings for the quiz concerned and state the “Total number of tests” which you are giving for this question.
Let’s see a more detailed explanation of how to configure each type of question :-)
First of all, please note that for each of them you will have the option of giving them a title and wording them. How the rest is edited will then depend on the type of question you have chosen.
Your changes will be recorded automatically.

1. Fill in gaps
The learner must complete a text by writing the missing words.
Step 1 - First of all give it a title. Example: “Question 1”
Step 2 - Then word your question by specifying in square brackets [ ] the missing word(s).
Step 3 - In the empty fields, you can “add text” to list the possible answers to the question you are asking.
From the settings wheel, will you can decide on various details among other things, for example:
-
Give a score per question.
-
Activate a clue (or not).
-
Give the correct answer(s) or the wrong answer(s)
-
Number of tests allowed per question
-
Specify the answer mode: “selection” (among a drop-down list) or “text field” (write the correct answer)
Once this has finished, click on the cross at the top-right and continue editing the next questions!
Example:

_____________________
2. Texte answer
As its name indicates, after having given a title and then worded your question, the following fields cannot be edited since it will be up to the learner to write an answer, give an opinion or any other free field which you decide upon. The trainer will be notified of the answers and will make the correction manually.
This time, the settings will allow you to:
-
Give a score to the question
-
Activate a clue (or not).
-
Activate a minimum response size (or not)
Example :

_____________________
3. True or False (Yes or No)
The learner must decide if a statement is true or false.
NB: The settings are “True / False” based but you can change them to “Yes / No” at your convenience using the question settings.
For this type of question, you must simply state whether the statement is true using the “green” coloured dots and false using the “red” dotes if the statement is false. You simply need to click on the word “true” or the word “false” to change the dot colour.
The rest of the settings (still using the wheel) specifies the following details:
-
Maximum score of the question
-
Activate a clue (or not).
-
Enable the question to be corrected instantaneously (nor not) (by indicating the correct answer in case of mistake)
-
Number of tests allowed per question
-
Answer mode: “true/false” OR “yes/no”
Example :

_____________________
4. Multiple choice
The learner must select the correct answer(s).
Settings identical to the previous question since here you must state the correct or incorrect answer(s) from among the multiple choices you offer.
To change a correct answer into an incorrect answer (and vice versa), you must click on the icon located to the left of each “name of choice”: the green square for a correct answer and the red square for an incorrect answer.
The supplementary settings (located in the wheel) allow you to:
-
Give a score to the question
-
Activate a clue (or not).
-
Enable the question to be corrected instantaneously (nor not) (by indicating the correct answer in case of mistake)
-
Number of tests allowed per question
-
Rating: gradual or “all or nothing”
Example :

5. Re-ordering words
The learner must put the information in the correct order.
Start by writing the different sentences you wish for the user to put in the right order.
There are two possible answers available:
-
“Drag & drop”: place each word in the correct place
-
Text field: re-write the whole sentence in order.
These options may be found in the question settings, in the same way as:
-
The maximum score per question
-
The activation of a clue (or not)
-
The instantaneous correction of the question (by indicating the correct answer in case of mistake)
-
The total number of tests authorised per question
Example :

_____________________
6. Association
The learner must recreate the pairs.
One of the questions often found in school exercises is linking and associating various pieces of information. Here, it’s exactly the same principle!
In the left-hand column, you define the information which goes hand in hand with the right-hand column.
The following settings allow you to define:
-
The maximum score per question
-
The activation of a clue (or not)
-
The instantaneous correction of the question (by indicating the correct answer in case of mistake)
-
The total number of tests authorised per question
Example :

_____________________
7. Category
The learner must answer a series of closed questions: it’s a sort of mini-quiz.
Step 1 - First of all give it a title. Example: “Question 1”
Step 2 - Then word your question by specifying in square brackets [ ] the missing word(s)
Example :

_____________________
8. Process
The learner must re-place the information in the correct order.
This type of question makes it possible to classify or order the answers to a given question.
The rest of the settings affect:
-
The maximum score per question
-
The activation of a clue (or not)
-
The instantaneous correction of the question (by indicating the correct answer in case of mistake)
-
The total number of tests authorised per question
Example :
