1. What is a skill?
It’s an attribute, a training-related goal. Generally, it’s a common reference frame between trainers and administrators to achieve goals determined in advance in the training plan.
__________
2. What is a topic?
A topic is a “special” skill, which helps organise the courses catalogue into categories.
__________
3. “Skills and Topics”: what are they for?
Faced with a multitude of courses, administrators and learners alike find it hard to get their bearings.
To effectively navigate through this course library, myskillcamp now lets you organise your catalogue by adding filters by skill or by topic. In summary, this will greatly streamline browsing and courses searches 😀
This feature is built on various foundations:
-
Catalogue segmented
-
Skills suggested
-
Skills created on the fly and targeted to user’s needs
__________
4. In concrete terms, how does it work?
In the “I create interface”
During the design of your courses or training paths, you have the option to add skills to your courses. It will thus be more easily identifiable during a keyword search.
The aim is to progressively create a knowledge hub available without having to upload your courses beforehand.
Does a skill still not exist? Create it and add it on the fly by combining it with courses.

To add a non-existing skill:
Step 1: Click on “Add a skill” and a window will open.
Step 2: Give it the title of your choice.
Step 3: You can give it a level! Select one from among the following suggestions:
1. Appropriate for everyone
2. Beginner
3. Intermediate
4. Expert

__________
In the “I organise interface”
As an administrator, you can manage the titles of skills created by third parties (trainers or courses editors). You have access to used or unused skills at a glance.
You can then validate them, merge them, forbid their use or suggest reworking them. In addition, you’re also able to see which courses are associated with the skill in question, the identity of whoever created the skill and whoever validated it.
In this way, you can be sure of the relevance and consistency of your skills matrix.

__________
In the “I learn” interface
The learner accesses a catalogue of courses segmented by category. Like the Netflix platform, by using a search bar everyone can filter very specific training such as: “Marketing”, “IT”, “Financial”, “Bureaucratic”, etc.
Within these categories, several levels of difficulties can be integrated by the administrators and are visible by learners in the search results.
Using this feature, you can thus suggest courses to your learners. Even better, you can offer them training courses which they wouldn’t have thought to enrol on originally 😉
But it doesn’t end there: the search filter also applies by skill or training package. This makes it possible to highlight skills similar to or in addition to the user’s search.
