A learning path is an e-learning tool that enables individuals to progress at their own pace. Learners won't lose the thread that links diverse learning content together. Here's everything you need to know to create a learning path for your team. 👨💻
In this article, we're going to create a learning path with the following steps:
1. How do I set up a learning path?
Get started with your learning path with the following steps!👇
Step 1: Go to your 'I create' interface and to the 'My learning paths' page.
Step 2: Click on 'Create a learning path' in the upper right corner.

Step 3: Give your learning path a title (mandatory).
Step 4: Add a thumbnail image to your learning path. This will always be shown to learners in the catalogue. Click on the image icon on the right upper corner.

Step 5: Set the language of the learning path. You can choose one of the platform languages: French, English, Dutch, German, or Italian.
Step 6: Set the duration of how long it takes to complete the learning path. This can be in minutes, hours, or days.
Step 7: Choose the type of learning path:

E-Learning: learning online through the use of computers and the internet

Classroom Training: place-based learning that requires the physical presence of both teacher and learners
-
Blended Learning: a combination of both e-learning and classroom training
-
Webinar: a presentation that takes place on the internet, allowing participants in different locations to see and hear the presenter

MOOC: a Massive Open Online Course is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the Web
-
COOC: Corporate Open Online Courses are for professionals and companies, and are created, offered, produced, and distributed by a private company
-
SPOC: Small Private Online Course are private courses, reserved for a small group of learners, intra or inter-company
-
On the job: is a form of training provided at the workplace

Step 8: Add a description to your learning path.
Step 9: Set up conditions (optional).

Limit the number of free registration places

Send automatic reminders
Step 10: Select 'Create' to set up your learning path.

2. How do I add content to the learning path?
After you followed the steps above to set up your learning path, you're now ready to add content! 🙌
Click 'Add a content'. You have 4 options to choose from:

Step 1: Scroll through or filter for existing content that you've created already for the learning space or content where you are a collaborator. You can add both internal and external content from providers. Either...

use the search bar,

filter for the type of content,
-
filter for providers, or
-
choose the content language
...to select the right content for your learning path by clicking on it so a checkbox appears.
You can also sort the list of results according to the Addition date of the content or from A to Z, or from Z to A.

❗Note: Adding external content from third-party providers is only available with Flex option accounts. Contact us if you want to upgrade
Step 2: Click on 'Validate' to add the selected content to the path.
Option B: Create an activity
Step 1: Choose between the following activities:

Quiz: challenge your learners with multiple-choice, true or false, or fill in gaps exercises
-
Discussion: add a private and interactive discussion forum
-
Content Page: build your own custom page in this text editor to insert text, images, videos, tables, and much more
-
Media: share resources such as videos, images, documents, or web resource with your learners
-
SCORM: import learning content created from other platforms
-
LTI: host external content tools directly into the learning path

Step 2: Click on 'Validate' to add your activity to the learning path.
Option C: Plan an event
Add an online or face-to-face event for your learners to their learning path. You can set the location, add trainers to this event, and even send all guests an email invitation.

Option D: Pin a link
Step 1: Enter information about your course:
-
The URL of your course.
-
The type: video, article, course
-
The time estimated in minutes, hours or days
Click 'Next'.

Step 2: Now enter the following fields:
-
A title and a description (might be pre-completed)
-
The language of the content
-
A thumbnail photo (might be pre-uploaded or choose one from the media library)
Click 'Next'.

Step 3: Select the skills that you want to link to your course. Hover over one skill to decide if your content is for an Introductive, Beginner or Intermediate learning level. Continue with 'Validate'.

Step 4: On this last page you will see a preview of how your content will appear in the learning space. Click 'Next' to pin this link.

3. How do I add transitions between content?
Between each content, you can add a transition to schedule when a learner gets access to the next content. ⏲️
Step 1: Select 'Add a transition' to get started.

Step 2:
If this is the first transition in your learning path, decide when you want the learning path to start.

Fixed date: Choose a date on which the learning path will start.
-
Day number: Select the number of days after which your learning path starts when a learner registers.
-
Minimum score: Define the minimum score the learner has to achieve for this step of the learning path using the slider.
For any other transitions between courses or activities:
-
Fixed date: Choose a date on which the current step in your path will start.
-
Day number: Select the number of days after which your current step in your path will start either when a learner registers or when the previous step is completed.
Click on 'Add a transition'.

4. How do I publish a learning path?
You're almost done creating your learning path. Go through your learning path again to make sure you didn't forget anything. Looks good? Here's how you can publish it to the learners' catalogue: 🤓
Step 1: Click on 'Publish a learning path' in the upper right corner.

Step 2: Decide in which camp(s) you want to publish your learning path. Select 'Next' to go to the next step.

❗Note: Make sure that content providers within your learning path are integrated into the selected camps.
Step 3: Decide how a learner registers for your learning path:
-
By invitation only: learners can register only through an invitation from an administrator, or
-
Via their catalogue, or by invitation: learners can register themselves via the catalogue or through an administrator.
Select 'Next' to go to the next step.

Step 4: Toggle on/off the notification option for managers. If you toggle on, managers will get notified whenever a learner registers for your learning path. If you toggle off (default), managers won't get a notification.
Select 'Next' to go to the next step.

Step 5: Here you'll see a summary of the learning path options that you just choose. Select 'Publish' to add your learning path to the learners' catalogue.
