How is learner progress calculated?
-
We calculate the progress continuously throughout all activities within an activity.
-
Example: A quiz activity with 10 questions, of which the learner answered 6 → shows as 60% progress
-
❗️Before: The progress was calculated in a binary fashion. The learner either completed the quiz activity (100%) or did not (0%).
When and how is the learner score calculated?
-
We calculate the score and display it based on the maximum possible score of the content. The score is the percentage of items the learner answered correctly in the course or learning path.
-
Example: A course with 6 activities, of which the learner answered and completed 2 successfully → shows as 33% score
-
❗️Before: The score was calculated based only on the activities or courses that the learner started. A course with 6 activities, of which the learner started and completed 2 successfully, shows as 100% score, because the learner started only 2 activities. The score is inaccurate because it can move whenever the learner starts other activities. Now it's easier for learners to interpret their score and to understand how much they still have to go to complete the entire course.
How is the score for external content included in a learning path?
-
It depends on the provider of the external content—some do have a score (e.g. Udemy, Coursera), some don’t (Cephora, Bookboon)
-
We take any content or activity that has a score into account.
-
❗️Before: We didn’t include any score of external content in learning path.
